Screen Rant - Flash Crossover Humor

and not much there but another Premier spoiler - Oliver/Laurel dynamic
Quote:
With just days left before the Arrow season 3 premiere, “The Calm,” fans’ excitement and questions have to be running high. For some spoilers about the dynamic between Oliver Queen and Laurel Lance in the upcoming episodes, we turn to executive producer Marc Guggenheim.

Warning: There are some major Arrow season 3 spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk.

There has been a definite evolution of the relationship between Oliver and Laurel over the course of the show. These one-time lovers have fought, made friends, rekindled some romance, separated and found common ground so far. What’s next?

It looks like that connection will be all-new all over again in season 3.

“It’s just Oliver and Laurel, and every now and again, we do have these scenes between the two of them when you really feel the history between them,” Guggenheim told reporters on Friday (Oct. 3). “They were best friends and they were lovers and they were in love with each other. Now they’re sort of post-relationship, but there’s this history there that’s always going to bond them.”

As a result of this, fans will see Oliver and Laurel interacting in the season premiere — but there isn’t much in the way of romance these days. In fact, Laurel herself refers to the relationship more in terms of business partners. She is, after all, a lawyer able to incarcerate any criminal Oliver brings her way.

Arrow season 3 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 8pm on The CW.

The Flame, huh.

So questions connect 301 to 309...

Ray Palmer's motives are probably the question in 301.

Ray Palmer in comics is one of Ronnie Raymond's old profs.

Ronnie Raymond is Firestorm. Robbie Amell is playing FS. 309 will be coming out of the Flash crossover the previous week.

Fires, flames...

Maybe there really is something to Guggenheim mentioning Ray's powers might be better suited for The Flash.

Maybe eventually they will give us some flashbacks....I wouldn't mind seeing the tommy/Oliver/lance sister dynamic back in the douchebag days and I wouldn't mind knowing (finally) how the lances came to know the queens, so much that Moira's lawyer said laurel "practically grew up in the Queen household"

Np all!

109 and 209 were the mid-season finales so I figured 309 was too.

Ohhh quotes, fun.

The bit about a man not living by two names = oq's handler in hk
about the shirtless bit. Gotta be Felicity
We know the catch and cook is laurel, masks is Sara, worst date is f.
Crusade bit is probably Oliver during the speech.

I just thought they said crossover was for midseason finale

lol I'm not 100% sure. It just looks like The Flame. And yeah usually the 9th episode it the mid season finale.

Don't the producers usually tweet an official picture of the script title?

Great interview by Guggie. Penny, there was mention here and there through S1 of their history. It didn't always translate to the present though but it's there.

I really like what Guggie said, "we do have these scenes between the two of them when you really feel the history between them" especially when they talk about Tommy.
That's one thing I have felt with O/L they have history - one I'd rather be forgotten and left on a dusty shelf most times because ugh. BUT they are important to one another. And "there’s this history there that’s always going to bond them" is the perfect way to put it.

For me personally, me and an old friend aren't the people we used, and we've moved forward to a different point in our lives but we are bonded through that past we share. That never changes. So I like that.

I'm not shy to say I will never ship Lauliver in a million trillion years but they are important to one another's journey.

Great O/L snippet from Guggie

While the “biggest surprise” is a bold claim given the number of twists and character deaths that have occurred in the previous two seasons of Arrow, but saving a major twist to give The Flash an extra boost would make sense. And as the producers continued to talk up the crossover, it became clear that the humor wasn’t going to be limited to Barry Allen’s ability to do what few others can, besting Oliver Queen in hand-to-hand combat.

It’s fairly obvious at this point that the grounded realism that helped define Arrow in its early stages will be vacant from The Flash, with dozens of metahumans emerging alongside Barry Allen as particularly ‘gifted.’ But in Starling City, Oliver Queen and his team – Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) and John Diggle (David Ramsey) – have so far only witnessed super-strong soldiers.

With superpowers becoming even rarer in Season 3, the arrival of Barry’s team has some humorous results; according to Grant Gustin, “David Ramsey is funnier than he’s ever been… what he’s seeing is blowing his mind.” As Kreisberg explained, the opportunity to blend the two shows’ tones – The Flash‘s lighthearted action with Arrow‘s super-serious drama – was one that the writers simply couldn’t pass up:

“When we were working on the script, we realized that the best part of ‘The Flash’ episode was this meta commentary on how serious everyone is in ‘Arrow,’ and so there’s a lot of jokes at Oliver’s expense in The Flash side of it. But then what was fun was when we went to do the Arrow side of it, it became the reverse, where Barry and Caitlin and Cisco… all have to face ‘Oh wow, what you guys do is serious.’ So they’re sort of playing at a different level.

“On Flash people go out for a drink at the end of the day, and they’re all friends, and they all care about each other, so there has been some talk about at the end of one episode, everyone going to a karaoke bar.”
‘The Flash’ Crossover To Feature ‘Arrow’s ‘Biggest Surprise of All Time’

Kreisberg responded, “One of the most important lessons that I’ve learned from working with Greg Berlanti, whose obviously had such amazing success in television, is to always have a really great plan, and then always know when to let the plan go.”In response to the unexpected addition of Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards)
